The premiere piece of the Private Collection blends the Atelier's minimalist design with ornate detail. For the Chiara Skirt con Fiori di Elena, the Atelier commissioned an illustration of our Nonna Elena's favourite flower - the white lily. To bring the illustration to life, the Atelier sourced from France one-of-a-kind, Victorian Era hand-blown glass beads to hand-embroider the elongated design of the Chiara pencil skirt.
Our embroidery artisan, Evgeniya, has employed the Luneville technique to embroider the skirt by hand known as 'les mains d'or' or the golden hands, which inspired the name of the collection Gilded Summer. Due to the antique nature of the beads, the piece requires over 250 hours of hand-embroidery.
This art piece is a unique, special edition due to the scarcity of the beads. This skirt is exceptionally unique because it is nearly impossible to source enough matching beads to create a piece like it. The Atelier obtained these rare beads from a French collector who had slowly been finding and collecting them over many years. There are enough beads to make just two skirts, one of which will be preserved in the Atelier's archives.
A Story of High Craftsmanship
Beyond each piece is a story of high craftsmanship and discreet artisanal detail. The Chiara Skirt con i Fiori di Elena is styled with the Sienna Shirt, which is hand-tailored in a Silk Cupro from Veneto, Italy. The Atelier's signet has been hand-embroidered on the pocket. The signet represents the thread of our grandfather's craft and the white lily, Nonna Elena's favourite flower.
Les Mains d'Or - The Golden Hands
The Atelier's Gilded Summer Collection was inspired by the Luneville technique, french hand embroidery known as the Goldens Hands or 'les mains d'or'. Lunéville embroidery is a French handcrafted technique that has been used since the 19th century on Haute Couture dresses and accessories. It is a work of complexity that requires great patience, precision and meticulousness. It creates unique pieces of luxury, of marvelous designs, unimaginable elegance and exquisitely elaborated.
